The Community of Pugnitello
Pugnitello is a rare grape variety that produces unique wines. It is proudly Maremman, like us at Sequerciani. Perhaps it is for both these reasons that we bet on it from the beginning. Today we are happy to tell you that we are not alone anymore: Slow Food Italy has
sanctioned the birth of the Community of "Pugnitello di Maremma", which involves 16
people, and includes two "custodians" and several farms cultivating over 30 hectares.
In the words of Paola Presti, the spokesperson for our group: "The Pugnitello Community wants to be a laboratory of ideas and best practices, to encourage the production and
enjoyment of an increasingly purer wine. The inherent characteristics of Pugnitello help us: being rich in natural defences such as polyphenols and tannins, this grape variety is
particularly suitable for winemaking without added sulfites."
